The Language and Mentoring Partners (LaMP) program connects enthusiastic English language learners with volunteer tutors. Volunteers do not need to know another language or have prior training in teaching English.
  • Meet in-person
  • Meet at least weekly, at your convenience
  • Teach from a given curriculum
  • Let the language learner set the pace for lessons
  • Build relationships with the learner and family members
  • Advise on cultural issues and American systems, such as schooling
  • Be a blessing to the family
  • Learn about a different culture and way of life
  • Represent Christ by caring for another person (Matthew 25:40)

A pairing usually assist a local international friend in learning English but can also help them with other learning requests, such as studying for the US citizenship test or the Tennessee driver's permit test. LaMPs also support elementary children with homework and connections between the family and the school.
