English Language Learning | Also known as English as a Second Language - ESL Date: Monday, May 12, 2025 Time: 6 - 8 p.m. Location: Central Bearden Church, ROC/KIN Offices Building 6300 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919 Cost: FREE! Early Bird Registration Drawing: Sign up by May 5 for your name to be placed in a prize drawing! Early registrations allow the KIN office to plan how to move forward with this training based on the number of anticipated attendees. Feel free to register late, or come without registering at all! But by registering early, it helps us in planning. Thank you! Join us for 2 seminars: "The ELL Classroom from a Student’s Perspective" We’ll be encouraged to hear a local Russian ELL student share her story and perspective on how the ELL classroom impacted her life. Her journey includes her emotional experience in immigrating to the US and acclimating to her new home. She’ll touch on topics such as cultural sensitivity, what impacted her the most, what didn't work well, and how we can learn from her experience. "Staying in Touch over Summer Break" Representatives from several local adult ELL programs will share how they stay connected with students through summer international outreach. They’ll offer simple strategies, along with struggles and successes they’ve experienced. Workshop attenders can also share what has and hasn't worked within your programs with a goal of brainstorming, networking, and encouraging each other. KIN 2025 “Come SEE!” - Summer English Events calendar will show how we can all stay connected throughout the Knox-Metro area by leaning on and learning from each other. |
