KIN English Language Learning (ELL) Volunteer Workshop & Roundtable Discussion
Also known as English as a Second Language - ESL Date: Saturday, February 15, 2025 Time: 9:00 a.m. - Noon Location: Central Bearden Church, ROC/KIN Offices Building 6300 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919 Cost: FREE! Join us for 3 seminars: "Building Relationships Within Your ELL Program" Though learning English is top priority in an adult ELL class, many students' motivation to attend is to build relationships with others. Sometimes this happens organically. Other times, due to language and cultural differences, lack of class time to incorporate relational aspects, or an inability to overcome shyness or awkwardness, classes fail to make these connections. Learn how your program can be more intentional in helping students and volunteers make important, lasting relationships. "Incorporating the Gospel of Christ into Your ELL Program" As your ELL students learn English, they also learn about American culture, beliefs, and general way of life. Sharing the Gospel of Christ in a way that's educational, engaging, and inviting can be an important aspect of your program. Come learn different ways you can easily share your faith without taking away from the time your students have committed to learning English. Guided Roundtable Discussion We often learn best when we learn from each other! Bring your favorite ideas and best practices to share with other attenders as we compare notes, encourage each other, and spur each other on to love and good works. (Heb. 10:24) |
